As a WKWC volunteer, you’re not just spreading awareness — you’re helping build the case, gather the evidence, and grow the movement that keeps West Kootenay watersheds, and potentially all watersheds like it, safe from unchecked logging.
Whether you have one afternoon or a consistent commitment, your work supports the critical research, ongoing policy push, and building of momentum for a community that shows up for their water.
Ways to Support
Represent WKWC at farmers markets and community events across the West Kootenay (Nelson, Slocan, Kaslo). Talk with neighbours about watershed risk and help grow our membership base.
Bring your skills in governance, finance, forestry, or advocacy to help steer WKWC’s strategy and partnerships.
Help create newsletters, social posts, and campaign materials that turn research into stories people can act on.
Assist with funding research or organizing data from the UBC Forest Hydrology Lab.
